originally, we planned to close the shop today since the last time we changed the layout, it took 8 hours.  this was obviously because there were only 2 people (myself & Calvin) who worked to do it and we did it all at once.  this time, we had F1R cleared to a bare floor before closing the shop, so the only thing left was to lay down the lining, rocks and clean the floor.  Vincent came thru at our normal opening time to help out so we wrapped up everything by 3pm.  we opened the shop with a new layout in place and invited members in for ‘practice & beer’ to celebrate.  i’m proud of all the work we do here as its more than a ‘normal’ mini-r/c circuit;  its a work of art and there’s nothing else like this in the world.  i believe our members take pride in that as well and appreciate the opportunity to enjoy this hobby in such a unique place.  in the midst of turmoil throughout the world, at least at nanotrax, they can find ‘joy’.

we all took our test runs on ‘Strata’ until closing time, discovering that we’ll have to prepare ourselves for high speed and chaotic collisions that will make our club races very interesting for the next 3 months.  i figured it was time for an upgrade to the Mazda 787b, so i threw on some PN Racing ‘Double Star’ Aluminum Wheels and an X-Power ‘Hot’ Motor, just so i can be ready for Olaf in the next club race… he’s outta control!  i’ll post pics of the new look soon on the nanotrax micro r/c forum, join us there for more ‘dNaNo discussion’ and more.  see ya next time! ;)

unfortunately, our internet was down for 2 days after torrential rains and flooding caused some technical problems in the area but we’re back now and keepin’ it rollin!  this week, we’ve had our largest group for club racing with 8 drivers on the grid (including myself).  as usual, we ran three (3) eight-minute qualifying races and one (1) fifteen-minute final.  3 drivers raced our rental cars (full options) and 4 were members racing their own dNaNo.  Daw came in 2nd place surprisingly with his modified Nissan GT-R.  Gary helped by experimenting with some various wheel options on Daw’s GT-R essentially turning it into a Skyline (R34) by setting it up with 18mm wheels.  it worked, so who can complain?  congrats to Daw… it was a LOAD of fun with a grid full of cars and i suspect when we reach 9+ cars, we’ll have to split up the mains.

our newest members are father/son teams.  Dom & Enzo picked up the popular Porsche 911 GT3 and Marc chose a fully hopped up Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.  he wasn’t comfortable with online photos so he let his son take his place (see pic with slightly interested baby holding green dNaNo).  NanoTrax is slowly becoming an excellent place for families to spend some quality time, share a great hobby and enjoy some excellent food in a cool, relaxed atmosphere (yes, that’s shameless ad ;-P).  today, new items from PN Racing including 8-Degree Tires and their Carbon T-Plate Set have been added to the online shop.  e-mail me for a custom quote on any order, especially when you’re looking for a better deal on shipping costs and don’t forget to register for our inventory update e-mail including discount coupon codes.  see ya later this week!

thanks to everyone who attended our grand opening yesterday, it was a pleasure having you here! we started off the day with a traditional buddhist blessing given by 9 monks. our visitors began to arrive including news reporters & good friends. shortly therafter, Laew Jhek cut the ceremonial shop ribbon to officially open NanoTrax and begin the tour of the shop. everyone ended up on the 2nd floor lounge, trading turns racing dNanos on Race Course F2L. i think we picked up a few new R/C addicts including several female drivers. the rest of the day, a few more people dropped in to bring gifts and get their own tour of the shop. Khun Eau, our shipping coordinator from TPP Shipping came through with 2 girlfriends and they all took a mini-r/c crash course in the lounge. a big thanks to all the news reporters who took interest in our facility including the guys from R/C Action, Pattaya People and Pattaya Expat. big shout to my close friend, Dee, for being my camera man, he’s responsible for the beautiful pics in the gallery. the food & drink was provided by Dave from Manhattan’s Pattaya and last but not least, our friends from PRC, Thum & Yoh visited this morning with a beautiful flower arrangement from Charlie Siribodhi, President of the RCCA.
