dNaNo or Mini-Z?

i love dNaNo.  i think its a model that opens the world of R/C racing to a broader demographic;  its been designed, developed and produced at excellent quality;  the costs of enjoying it are minimal compared to larger scales;  its tiny and allows us to enjoy it indoors.  wait… isn’t there another R/C racing model that offers all these features?  that’s right… Mini-Z.  from the beginning of this venture, my goal was to build a venue and we’ve done that successfully with a new scale (dNaNo) at the forefront.  unfortunately, while my love for dNaNo has not faded, it has yet to gain the following it needs to support NanoTrax.  Mini-Z has been around for 10 years and there are a plethora of aftermarket parts, auto scale collection models, and chassis sets available allowing us to increase sales to a wider demographic with a larger existing fan base.  NanoTrax is a Mini R/C Racing Lounge and whether we’re racing dNaNo, Mini-Z or any other available miniature scale model, it should be a mini R/C paradise and that’s always been my goal.  what do you think?  should we maintain our commitment to dNaNo or should be we focus more on Mini-Z?  if you’re reading this, i need your feedback so post a reply here or send an e-mail to qon@nanotrax.net and give me your thoughts.

Unless the dNaNo OEM is subsidizing you, then it seems only right that you would offer products from other lines. However, you don’t want to become just another Mini-Z distributor…your shop looks too nice for that. But a wide line of quality miniature scale RC vehicles of all varieties could fit under one roof, and it’d be great to have someone comparison testing them all for us, etc. Follow your heart, but listen to your business sense. Ciao.

thanks for the comment… no, we’re not being subsidized by Kyosho or its distributors so, this is why we’re planning on expanding our scope to multiple products. it would nice to hear from visitors on what specifically they’d like to see happen at nanotrax? this is place is only as successful as the customers it attracts.

i personally see dnano as an extension of the mini-z experience. i’ve been racing mini-z’s for 9 years and the dnano really incorporates many of the same lessons learned, technology, manufacturers, tracks, software and hardware.
while i understand your focus is dnano, it’s hard to pass up the opportunity to expand and possibly subsidize dnano racing with mini-z’s which have a much larger fan base, history etc. given the two lines borrow much from each other, it only seems natural to support both lines. you may find mini-z grows larger which is fine provided dnano is not forgotten. i think the most difficult part shops seem to have with supporting multiple scales (micro) is keeping the excitement and energy levels high for both. it’s very easy to let one slip after awhile.
i think your shop will do very well in catering to both scales and i don’t see it detracting at all from your primary love for the dnano.

thanks for the feedback arch… insightful and always helpful. i’d still like to see the OEM show us some love but at the moment, i think we just have to focus on enjoying what WE have built (i didn’t do it alone) and see what tomorrow brings.

I believe it is a personal opinon racing dnano or mini-z’s. The fact is that with the mini-z’s you have a much greater variety of racing opportunity’s i.e. awd, le mans, f1, touring etc. With the different mini-z chassis available, the fun is not limited just to 1 chassis and a couple of car bodies. I think its worthwihle to check if the market is there to have both lines racing at your place. You could for instance advertise your shop and work together with the hotels in Pattaya. You may get a couple of groups to come in for racing as part of there team building trainings which is very comment those day’s.

Hi Qon, I would like to visit you in pattaya but there is just not enough time to get there. Last year I made it once to bangkok. Since most of the flights to other destinations from here are direct, you don’t waste the time anymore to stop over in BKK. I will be in hong kong in may and shall visit the d’nano shop in mong kok to get the a taste of the d’nano racer just to see if its as exiting as the mini’z racers.
