Pattaya dNano Racing Club?

who misspells solutions?

the past couple days have been productive but we kind of laid back a bit. thursday we visited the guys at PRC and practiced on their custom built dNano track. its actually very nice and easy on the cars featuring lots of twists, turns and varying elevations. i was too lazy to bring either cam out so pics & vids will have to wait until our next visit. i’ve included a couple of pics of Nalani with the dNano’s to make up for it until then. friday the 23rd was opening day for the new Central in Pattaya. traffic was a mess so we stayed away from that area. we did order biz cards and polo shirts with the NT logo. biz cards were completed and picked up saturday, shirts will arrive on the 1st – more than a week! but i understand, cuz the chinese new year is coming up so thats going to put a delay on everything. i don’t know what was wrong with the people who did the biz cards but the printed my name is “Qen” and my company name “Solutiong”… who makes a typo like that??? i’m not that pressed about it, biz cards are really to give contact info and since that was correct, i’m good. besides, we only ordered 500 of them and you can be the next 500 will be made at a different shop.

i’ve been thinking extensively about how to get people involved in the hobby and ultimately buying more of our products. its difficult to make people who are not in this hobby understand that these little cars are more than just toys. ‘toys’ break and normally can’t be fixed. they’re not built to last, and they’re certainly not meant to be improved by the person who bought it. hobby grade r/c models are on a completely different level and i’m hoping to convey that information without having to talk too much. so, my idea is to create a club or league for racing. NanoTrax will hold weekly practice at the store track and run actual races with prizes once a month. we’ll keep track of points and give prizes for Driving Champion and Team Of The Year. i expect we’ll give discounts for full team model purchases perhaps even do team decals to distinguish car bodies. another small detail i’m considering is dividing car class considering there are 3 chassis types for the dNano. the MM chassis type cars are all 60mm or long wile all the RM chassis models are less than 60mm. based on running my wife’s Porsche 911 and my own Mazda 787 (RM & MM respectively), i can see tell a marked difference in performance which i suspect was intentional. then again, what will really set drivers apart (disregarding individual skill) will be those who have actually invested in performance improving hop-ups. the 911 has ball bearings now (thanks Pee Bey!) and i can tell it runs much smoother on straightaways. imagine a car with all the available hop-ups with a decent driver at the controls!

so, i assume you could say my brainstorms are the “birth” of the Pattaya dNano Racing Club? my far fetched dream is to see many of the country clicks with their own bars & teams battling it out on race day with a small crowd of curious spectators on the big circle of Central/Big C. for now, let’s just get the shop open, right? tomorrow we’ll be picking up the lighted sign, store inventory, supplies, table drape with logo (ordered from the same guy who’s doing our sign), putting in the order for the promo signs and hopefully securing a spot for the store. at this point its either Tukcom or Central/BigC NP. i really want a place that’s comfortable, has plenty of traffic, buying customers and low rental rates since the success of this venture is still up in the air. more when i have it….
